Friedrich Mauthe Schwenningham, (FMS) Westminster Chimes- Made in Wurttemberg, Germany
This is a lovely old clock in a solid dark brown oak case – -the FMS beneath a spread wing eagle on the face of this clock is the mark of Frederick Mauthe, Schwenningham, Germany. It has 3-holes on the face, means that not only does the clock have an hourly/half hourly chime, but it plays a sequence of a tone on the 1/4 hour as well. It has 8 weights. Sculptural crown leads the eye to a decorative dial, Roman numerals and hands. The case is in good condition in line with the age, some trace of use and age. On a clock which is older than 115 years, these flaws are truly minor and neither lowers the value nor interferes with its charisma. The enameled dial is in good condition. Key included.
Both the clockwork as well as the striking mechanism is fully functional.
